BitKeeper - The proprietary DVCS used to manage the Linux Kernel project from 2002 . But in 2005 the relationship between the linux kernel team and BitKeeper broke down and the free status of BitKeeper revoked .
At that time Linus Torvalds - the creator of Linux and kernel team decided to build the version control of their own which will be distributed , having support for parallel development , fast , simple in design and able to handle large projects . So that's how Git is developed .
